What is the JEE Main Exam?

The Joint Entrance Exam or the JEE Exam (Main) conducted by the National Testing Agency is an entrance exam for the students who wish to gain admission in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other top engineering colleges spread across the country.

The students who apply for the JEE Main Exam 2023 need to be aware of the JEE Main Exam Eligibility. It will help them to judge their qualification and eligibility to give this exam. The important JEE Main Exam Eligibility criteria are discussed below:

  • There is no age limit for the candidates who wish to apply for this exam.
  • The students who have cleared Class 12th or any other equivalent exam are eligible to apply for the JEE Main Exam.
  • There is no specific criteria when it comes to the minimum percentage required in the 10+2 exam to qualify as per the JEE Main Exam Eligibility criteria.
  • The students must have cleared the qualifying exam in 2020 or 2021. Or else, they should at least appear in the 2023 exam to qualify.
  • The students appearing for the JEE Main Paper 1 meant for the B. Tech courses need to have Maths and Physics as compulsory subjects. They should have taken Biology, Chemistry, or any other technical subject as a vocational subject.
  • The students appearing for the JEE Main Paper 2 meant for the B. Arch courses should have taken Maths, Chemistry, and Physics as compulsory subjects in the 12th Class.
  • The students appearing for the JEE Main Paper 3 meant for the B. Plan courses should have taken Maths as a mandatory subject in the 12th Class.
  • The students can apply for the JEE Main Exam for 3 consecutive years from their year of passing.
  • Those who clear the JEE Main Exam with the minimum cut-off marks can appear for the JEE Advanced Exam. The students get a chance to appear in the JEE Advanced Exam twice after completing their 10+2 studies. Also, they must feature in the top 2.5 lakh students of the merit list to be eligible for the JEE Advanced Exam.
  • Only the students who clear the JEE Advanced Exam to get admission into the renowned IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) of the country.

Along with the JEE Main Exam Eligibility, the candidates must also possess knowledge about the documents that are required to be submitted with the application form. The following documents are required to verify the eligibility of the candidates:

Scanned photos of signature 

Scanned photos of passport-sized photograph 

Category Certificate (for the students who come from the reserved categories)

ID proofs like ration card copy, Aadhaar Card, passbook, etc. 

Along with these documents, the students will also need details of their debit card or internet banking that they will be using to pay the JEE Main Exam Application Fee.
